B is for Burundi

Flicking open the guidebook to Burundi I noted that one of the major highlights to be experienced was simply Being in Burundi!. Brilliant... I can be a total tourist and not actually have to do anything! OK, so Burundi isn't exactly a major player when it comes to the tourism industry... sure it is home to the purported southern most source of the Nile, as well as the alleged meeting place of Livingstone and Stanley (whoever they are)... but when it all comes down to it, theres not much going on. It is beautiful though, and it is where I am right now. But honestly... Did you even know it was a country? Here's a map to prove it...

it really is a country

Also... For any of the bike people who are interested in which parts |'ve actually been riding and what not... I've made a map. Its pretty shit because none of the cities were marked on so it is just sort of me guessing, but it gives you the idea... Perhaps it highlights to you all how lazy I have been...? (I like to think I've underestimated the cycling parts... Might not be true, but I at least like to think it...)

my route

The Red Parts... I took buses and hitchhiked
The Green Parts... I cycled (and walked!!)
The Blue Parts... I ferried
The Darker Yellow Country... Is Tanzania... Where I'm going next
